VIZ MEDIA ANNOUNCES DEBUT OF SECOND SEASON OF BLEACH ON ADULT SWIM
For those of you wondering if Adult Swim was planning on canceling Bleach or bringing it back for a second season, exhale the held breath. Adult Swim has picked up all 52 episodes of the high impact, action stuffed, teen drama set to begin airing on Saturday March 1, 2008.
Bleach is based on a best-selling manga graphic novel of the same name by Tite Kubo which is published domestically by VIZ Media. The manga has been translated into more than seven languages and has sold over 33.5 million copies in Japan. Both the manga and the animated series have become extremely popular in North America and have spawned an array of related video games, apparel, action figures, trading cards and other merchandise.

If you haven’t been keeping up so far here’s the break down. Bleach follows young man, Ichigo Kurosaki, after he has been given the powers of Rukia Kuchiki and becomes a Soul Reaper to protect his family from a Hollow. After given the powers he is reluctant to take up the mantle of Soul Reaper, but eventually, with help from Rukia and his friends Chad, Orihimi, and Uryuu he accepts his fate.
At the end of the first season we left Ichigo and his friends stranded in the Soul Societies Seireitei looking for Rukia who had been sentence to death for giving Ichigo her powers. Having just beaten Kenpachi Zaraki and barely starting his Bankai training Ichigo finds out that Rukia’s execution has been moved up to the following day. Will he finish his Bankai training in time? Will he be able to save Rukia if he does? I guess you’ll just have to watch and find out.
